What is Parent Link?

Our Parent Link program offers Kiind members the opportunity to connect with one another to provide support and understanding, share knowledge, and help to navigate the complex systems and services that are often involved with caring for a child with disability.

The program brings together parents and caregivers in a similar position. For example, Kiind may match parents whose children share a diagnosis, are of a similar age, or are navigating similar circumstances.

Kiind will facilitate connections between families and put them in touch with one another. Once connected, Kiind members arrange to meet, usually online or over the phone, to get to know one another and share their experiences.

What are the benefits?

Peer support programs such as Parent Link have been shown to have positive outcomes for participants including:

  • Reduced social isolation
  • Increased wellbeing
  • Increased coping skills and capacity
  • Increased self-esteem
  • Reduced stress, anxiety, and depression
