Here, we’ll highlight some of the top accessible playgrounds in WA, where everyone can enjoy outdoor play – all without spending a cent.

Jo Wheatley All Abilities Play Space

The Jo Wheatley All Abilities Play Space is an inclusive accessible playground and covers 10,000sq m with wheelchair access throughout. It also features a sensory garden, flying fox, climbing obstacles, slides, swings, picnic areas, water play, and accessible toilet facilities.
Location: Esplanade, Dalkeith, located in Beaton Park
Livvi’s Place Playground

Livvi’s Place Playground is a creation brought to life through the collaboration of hundreds of local school children. It features a fully fenced area, double flying fox, sand table, and accessible parking and toilet facilities.
Location: Mayfield Drive, Brabham
Piney Lakes Sensory Play Park

Piney Lakes Sensory Play Park is an inclusive park where people with disability can play and interact alongside their family, friends, and community. This includes accessible footpaths, an accessible drink fountain (with tap for bottle refill), picnic tables set at different heights central to the water and sand play area overlooking the lake, ACROD parking, and two accessible unisex toilets (fitted with adult change tables and left and right-handed grab rails).

Pia’s Place in Whiteman park, Whiteman

Pia’s Place is designed to allow all children to explore and play in a nature-based inclusive play space. It starts with amenities accessible from the tram stop and ACROD parking bays at the entrance. It also features accessible harness swings on the flying fox, quiet nooks and sand pits.

Kwinana Adventure Park

The Kwinana Adventure Park is an enormous adventure play park and has something for the whole family to enjoy. The park is divided into six zones, offering impressive accessibility features. It has a range of sensory play equipment, and its carousel offers two-seated carriages so carers can accompany their loved ones on board. In warmer months, take your loved ones to cool off at the splash pad, including accessible areas.

Shipwreck Park

Shipwreck Park is a nautical-themed playground for children to play and let their imaginations run wild. It features pathways all through the park for wheelchair and walker use, along with a wheelchair-accessible playground. It also features an accessible swing and flying fox, and even a wheelchair-accessible barbeque. There are ACROD parking bays in the car park.
Location: Corner Forrest Road and Eleventh Road, Hilbert
Bibra Lake Regional Playground
The Bibra Lake Regional Playground has several accessible features, including sound and water play for children with visual impairments, wheelchair-accessible barbeques, supportive seats on swings, seesaws, and flying foxes. There are also disabled change facilities that include tracking hoists, height-adjustable adult-sized changing benches, automatic doors, and enough space for two carers.

Variety Place

The Variety Place playground was largely designed and built with accessibility for all children in mind. The playground has wheelchair accessible pathways and toilets, as well as changing facilities for eligible users and their carers who possess a MLAK key.

Woodbridge Riverside Park and Play Space

The Woodbridge Riverside Park and Play Space is an all abilities play space with accessible equipment and facilities. There are dual ability flying foxes with one seat that has a seat belt and play equipment capable of fitting two wheelchairs in at the same time. There is also a liberty swing, accessible toilets, and ACROD parking available.

Fantasy Park in Waikiki, Rockingham

Fantasy Park is an accessible adventure park and picnic area. It has a large accessible playground, a sensory garden, a touching panel, large stone animal sculptures designed for interactive play, and accessible toilets.

Hyde Park’s Playground

Hyde Park’s Playground is an accessible children’s playground with a liberty swing, various ramps for wheelchair users, two climbing nets, an accessible carousel, two sets of swings (one with seats enabling persons with minor mobility issues to access and use with ease), many items of play accessible from ground level, and ACROD parking.

Magnolia Way Reserve All Abilities Playground

Magnolia Way Reserve All Abilities Playground has recently opened and features a sensory dome, climbing cubes, hammock, harmony flower posy, and ramps. The playground is easily accessible for children in wheelchairs and has play elements on each level.

Eyre Park All Abilities Play Space

Eyre Park All Abilities Play Space features nine pieces of play equipment specifically for all abilities with internal paths and rubber soft fall flooring. Additional play equipment includes a flying fox, swings, climbing ropes, music, sensory, and sand play.

Skyes Foreshore Playspace

Skyes Foreshore Playspace is surrounded by Play Matta accessible surfacing, and features a giant swing designed to cater to children or adults able to transfer from a mobility aid. Other accessible play elements include rainbow chimes, dice game panel, sea puzzle, tournicoti carousel, and treasure hunt.
